Peer Review Process

The Journal of Applied SME Informatics Management (JASIM) applies a rigorous double-blind peer-review process to ensure the quality, originality, relevance, and academic integrity of all manuscripts submitted for publication. The identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed from each other throughout the review process to maintain objectivity and minimize potential bias.

1. Initial Submission & Desk Screening:
All submitted manuscripts are initially screened by the Editor-in-Chief or assigned editor to assess their relevance to the focus and scope of JASIM, originality, academic quality, ethical compliance, manuscript structure, and conformity with the journal's author guidelines. Manuscripts may also undergo similarity checking before being sent for external review. Submissions that do not meet the journal's minimum requirements may be rejected at this stage without external peer review.

2. Double-Blind Peer Review:
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to at least two independent reviewers with expertise relevant to the subject of the manuscript. JASIM implements a double-blind peer-review system in which the identities of authors are concealed from reviewers and the identities of reviewers are concealed from authors. Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on originality, theoretical contribution, methodological rigor, validity of results, quality of discussion, relevance to SME informatics and management, practical implications, quality of references, and overall academic presentation.

3. Editorial Decision & Revision Handling:
Based on the reviewers' evaluations, the editor may issue one of the following decisions: Accept Submission, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject Submission. When revisions are required, authors must submit a revised manuscript together with a detailed response explaining how each reviewer comment has been addressed. Revised manuscripts, particularly those requiring major revisions, may be returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation. The final editorial decision remains the responsibility of the Editor-in-Chief or assigned editor.

4. Acceptance & Final Publication:
Once a manuscript has successfully completed the peer-review and revision process and has been formally accepted, it proceeds to the production stage. The manuscript undergoes final editorial checking, copyediting, formatting, metadata verification, proofreading, and publication preparation. Authors may be requested to review and approve the final proof before publication. The accepted article is then published in JASIM in accordance with the journal's publication schedule and open-access policy.
